Abstract

The meaning of "returning to the Qur'an and Sunnah" for the younger generation cannot be understood as a narrow textual invitation, but rather as a process of restructuring life orientation, ways of thinking, and behavior to align with the values of monotheism, morality, and the common good. In the contemporary Indonesian context, Generation Z and millennials face an identity crisis, with social media fueling hoaxes, social comparison, anxiety, and consumer behavior, thus intensifying the need for authentic values (Mahmud 2024; Gussevi and Muhfi 2021). Several Indonesian journal studies from 2021–2025 show that the Qur'an and Sunnah can be present in real life through family education, memorization, digital Qur'anic literacy, inclusive da'wah, religious moderation, and sharia-compliant lifestyle choices in fashion and the digital economy (Saputra, Ruslandi, and Amarullah 2023; Wardah et al. 2024; Arsyad et al. 2025; Malbania and Mailindra 2025; Amalina, Wani, and Lestari 2022). This article examines this theme phenomenologically, interpreting the experiences and meanings evident in recent literature on contemporary Islam
