The Indonesian Journal of Language and Tourism Studies (JOLARS) recognizes and respects the intellectual property rights of authors and is committed to protecting the integrity, accessibility, and responsible dissemination of scholarly publications.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors retain the copyright of their published articles.

By submitting a manuscript to the Indonesian Journal of Language and Tourism Studies (JOLARS), authors confirm that the work is original and that they have the legal right to publish the manuscript and grant the journal the rights necessary for publication and dissemination.

2. Right of First Publication

Authors grant IJLTS the right of first publication of the submitted and accepted manuscript.

The journal is authorized to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, and make the article publicly available through its website, electronic journal platform, indexing services, repositories, and other scholarly communication channels associated with the journal.

3. Open Access

IJLTS is committed to providing open access to its published research in order to support the broad dissemination of scholarly knowledge.

Readers may access, read, download, copy, search, and use published articles for lawful scholarly and educational purposes in accordance with the applicable license.

4. Licensing

Unless otherwise stated on the individual article, published articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) License.

Under this license, users may:

  • Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially.

These uses are permitted provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), a link to the applicable license is provided, and any changes made to the original work are clearly indicated.

5. Author Rights

Authors retain the right to:

  • Share the published article through personal or institutional repositories;
  • Include the article in academic portfolios, theses, dissertations, or other scholarly works;

6. Third-Party Materials

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use copyrighted materials belonging to third parties when such permission is required.

Third-party materials may include:

  • Tables;
  • Illustrations;
  • Audio or audiovisual materials;
  • Previously published text;
  • Other copyrighted content.

The inclusion of third-party materials in an article does not automatically mean that those materials are covered by the article's Creative Commons license.

Where applicable, authors should clearly identify materials that are subject to separate copyright or licensing restrictions.

7. Attribution

Any person or organization reusing an IJLTS article must provide appropriate attribution to the original author(s) and publication.

Attribution should normally include:

  • Author name(s);
  • Article title;
  • Journal title;
  • Publication year;
  • DOI or permanent article identifier, where available;
  • A link to the original publication;
  • A statement indicating the applicable Creative Commons license.

8. Copyright Infringement

IJLTS respects the copyright of authors and third parties.

Any suspected copyright infringement involving material published by the journal may be reported to the editorial office for investigation.

The journal may take appropriate action, including correction, removal, or other measures, where copyright infringement is established.

9. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions do not violate the copyright, intellectual property, privacy, or other legal rights of third parties.

Submission of a manuscript indicates that the authors have obtained any necessary permissions and have properly acknowledged materials obtained from other sources.

10. Copyright and Editorial Decisions

Copyright ownership and licensing arrangements do not influence editorial decisions, peer-review outcomes, or the academic evaluation of manuscripts.

All manuscripts are evaluated according to the journal's academic, ethical, methodological, and editorial standards.
